Trekking Equipment Checklist

Now, let us discuss a very important tip: travel with light luggage. Pack carefully because porters can carry up to 25 kilograms for two hikers.

  • Rucksack or Duffle Bag: NHT offers a 70-liter rucksack bag for your trekking supplies. However, it is advised to bring an additional bag for non-trek items left at the accommodation.
  • Day Pack (20–22 Liters): This pack is perfect for toting around everyday necessities like snacks, drinks, and a camera.
  • Bag Cover: Waterproof covers for your bags to shield them from snow and rain.
  • Down Jacket: NHT provided the down jacket, which is rated for -20°C and necessary for warmth. It must be returned after the hike.
  • 4-Season Sleeping Bag: The NHT 4-Season Sleeping Bag, with a -20°C rating, guarantees a cozy night’s sleep in chilly weather. It must be returned after the hike.
  • Travel Adapter: Plug types C, D, and M are used in Nepal. If you have a universal travel adapter that works with these kinds of outlets, you may charge your devices anywhere there is power.
  • Extra batteries/ power bank: To recharge electronics when no power sources are available.
  • Device Charger: Make sure your charger is appropriate for your gadgets. You will need it to keep your electronics charged for the hike.

  • Tablets for Water Purification: These are not required, as NHT offers tablets for purifying water. They are optional, as NHT offers purification tablets upon request.
  • Ziploc or Dry Bags: These are used to waterproof delicate things.
  • Earplugs: To Get a Good Night’s Sleep Despite Your Roommate’s Snores.

7. Extras

  • To store memories, carry a camera with extra memory cards.
  • Notebook and Pen: Useful for recording ideas or facts.
  • Trail Guides and Maps: To improve the hiking experience. Every trekker receives a pocket map from NHT.
  • Energy Bars and Snacks: These are quick sources of energy.
